Benefits of the Polycom Group Series
Businesses choose the Polycom Group series over competing video conferencing solutions for a number of reasons. The first of which is the ease of use, because not everyone is familiar with setting up conference calls or engaging with video conferencing equipment.
- Intuitive user interface for all experience levels
- Easy to manage and maintain, equaling less IT expense
- Supports the new EagleEye IV camera
- Group 500 and 700 offer large built-in conference bridges
- Small form factors to fit any existing room setup
- Includes SVC support, while HDX series does not
One benefit of the Polycom Group series is that it is compatible with the Polycom EagleEye IV camera. The camera is an incredible leap forward for video conferencing technology. A 4k image sensor and 12x digital zoom feature allow remote participants (assuming that far-end camera control is enabled) or on-premise participants to magnify people, objects or parts of the room without deteriorating picture quality. A wide angle lens adapter is available for wider or broader rooms.
Two EagleEye IV models are available; one with 4x optical zoom and the other with 10x optical zoom. The Polycom Group series offers bundles with either camera included.
Onboard Technology Features
The Polycom Group series is not only a best-in-class video and audio conferencing solution, but a platform to collaborate and share experiences not offered by other video conferencing systems. Technology only available to the Group series makes any conference call a one-of-a-kind adventure.
People+Content IP: share content or live screen images from your PC or Mac to the video conference. The People+Content IP application is available as a free download from Polycom’s website.
SmartPairing: transfer calls from a mobile device with RealPresence Mobile to the Group system, and use your tablet or smartphone as a conference control device.
VisualBoard: create and share content on the Group system with your existing devices. Use a touchscreen device like a tablet or computer, or connect a mouse directly to the system. UC Board accessory is required.
Acoustic Fence: a virtual barrier that blocks noises outside of your conference room or meeting space from being heard by remote participants.
NoiseBlock: the microphone is temporarily muted when disruptive sounds are detected, such as keyboard typing or paper shuffling.
Unified Communications & Interoperability
Video conferencing isn’t the only form of communications. VoIP phones, messengers, email clients and mobile devices share this realm. Put it all together, and we call in unified communications. A UC platform like Microsoft Lync or Skype for Business combines these solutions into one coherent package.
Polycom Group series video conferencing systems are fully compatible with Microsoft Lync and Skype for Business. The systems are standards-based, meaning that they can communicate with other equipment sharing the same set of protocols.
Unlike the Polycom HDX series, the Polycom Group series is compatible with SVC video compression. SVC, or “Scalable Video Coding,” enables devices to receive high quality video with less risk of degradation. The Group series systems can communicate with both SVC and H.264-based endpoints from third-party manufacturers.
