How to create a custom faceplate for Grandstream hotel phones

Here’s how to generate a custom faceplate for Grandstream VoIP hotel phones.

Go to the Online Grandstream GHP Faceplate Customization/Design Tool (external link) on Grandstream’s website.

Select the phone model. Your choice is either “GHP61x” or “GHP62x.”

GHP61x phones are slimline phones and have a smaller faceplate for three customizable buttons. In the template tool, you can choose from over 50 icons to match the function you want each button to perform. You can also write a label for each button.

GHP62x phones are normal-sized phones and have a larger faceplate for six customizable buttons, which you edit like the GHP61x faceplate. The faceplate also has room for your organization’s logo and text like the address, dialing instructions, emergency phone numbers, and more. Grandstream recommends your logo be an SVG file in a common color like white or gray. You can also enter a range of room numbers, to further customize the faceplate for your hotel.

Once you’ve made the template to your satisfaction, enter the relevant information (name, etc.), then click Generate. You’ll be instructed to save the result to PDF.

This is the basic process. But there’s one big thing we haven’t mentioned. With GHP62x models, you have a choice between cardstock or silkscreen faceplates.

Cardstock vs Silkscreen

For GHP62x phones, you can select either “Advanced Silkscreen Customization” or “Cardstock Customization” in the tool.

If you choose “Cardstock,” the tool produces a PDF with nine faceplates per sheet. You can print out these faceplate sheets yourself on cardstock of your choosing. The sheets have dotted lines for you to cut the printed cards accurately. You then install these cards underneath the standard faceplates that come with the hotel phones. For more detailed instructions on how to install these cardstock faceplates, see the Grandstream GHP62x Series Quick Installation Guide pdf.

If you choose “Silkscreen,” the tool produces a PDF template for custom faceplates with lettering and images printed directly on it. You don’t print the faceplates yourself. They will be printed expertly. For GHP61x phones, you can only produce silkscreen templates; there’s no option for cardstock.
