Jabra Evolve2 75 headsets set a new standard for hybrid working

Jabra office headsets are vastly popular and widely recommended as being among the best headsets for business on the market today. And it makes sense: they offer exceptional audio performance, exquisite design and a range of options that suit every use-case.

The new Jabra Evolve2 75 Series of headsets improves on the previous Jabra Evolve 75 Series with better active noise cancellation, more modern and more comfortable design, improved battery life and more.

They set a new standard for hybrid working, meaning you get top-tier performance in the office, at home or on the road. You can use the Bluetooth headsets with your computer, laptop, tablet or smartphone, both for communications and for media.

There are currently eight versions available in the Jabra Evolve2 75 Series. The differences are: 1) Is it for general use (UC) or for Microsoft Teams (MS)? 2) What version of USB is the Jabra Link 380 Bluetooth Adapter? 3) Does the package include a charging stand?

Jabra Evolve2 75 Headsets

Jabra Evolve2 75 Headsets are designed for professionals. The Bluetooth headsets come with a new triple chipset design that enables intelligent features.

Call controls are built into the headphones: answer/reject calls, volume, mute and activate voice. The controls also work for media, including play/pause, skip track and so on. The Microsoft Teams model has a Teams button for quick access to the service. A smart sensor detects when you put the headset on or take it off, automatically playing and pausing audio.

There can be times, in the office or at home, when you need to focus on a call or on your work. Evolve2 75 has a busylight that shows red when you need to focus. It’s been designed for 360° visibility, so coworkers or family members will know visually when they shouldn’t disturb you.

The headsets support Bluetooth v5.2 and can be paired with up to 2 devices simultaneously or up to 8 devices in total. They have a 100 ft wander range, so you won’t have to worry about walking away from your phone or computer.

One of the big improvements from the previous model is greatly improved battery life. When used for listening to music with ANC off, you can get up to 36 hours of power: a day and a half! This is up from 17 hours for Evolve 75, more than twice as long. When use for talking with ANC off, you get up to 24 hours of power. With ANC on, you get up to 33 hours of music time and 18 hours of talk time.

If you’re hurting for power, fast charge gives you up to 6 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes. A full charge takes less than 3 hours. In other words, you won’t need to worry, even if you use it all day long. You can charge it using the included USB cable or a charging stand. Some of the models come with the stand.

This is all great, but the stand-out feature of Evolve2 75 is its exceptional noise reduction technologies. Let’s take a look!

Jabra Evolve2 75 Headset, Front

Advanced Active Noise Cancellation (ANC)

Jabra Advanced ANC is their latest, greatest version of active noise cancellation. ANC is one of the most desired features by workers. While passive noise cancellation (PNC) means, simply, that the headset physically blocks noise either by covering the ears or directing the microphone towards the mouth. Active noise cancellation, however, means more.

Jabra Evolve2 75 has eight microphones. Advanced ANC uses four of these microphones to detect where sound is coming from. The headset then responds to eliminate background noise. It does this by putting the three chipsets to work, processing audio using precisely engineered algorithms. The effect is near total sound isolation, letting you focus better on your work, block out airplane or traffic noise and all the other uses that ANC is so desired for.

Using the free Jabra Sound+ app, you can set the level of ANC you want. There are 11 options, so you can fine-tune it to your preference.

HearThrough

Stereo headsets have been shown to improve focus because they block out external distractions. In part, this is simply because both ears are covered: passive noise cancellation. And we just covered how Advanced ANC blocks out more noise than ever before.

But what if you want the option to hear what’s happening around you without taking off the headset?

Jabra HearThrough is your answer. Activated by a button on the left headphone, it allows sound to pass through your headset, so you can hear what’s happening around you. So if a coworker wants to talk to you or your child needs attention, you don’t need to remove the headset.

Premium Audio Experience

Beyond dealing with noise, Jabra Evolve2 75 is designed for a premium audio experience. What do we mean by that?

First off, it supports the latest AAC codecs, giving you a fuller, richer audio experience. Using the Sound+ app, you can set a MySound profile, so the audio sounds the exact way you want. You can also use the customizable EQ in the app.

The stereo headset has dual leak-tolerant 40 mm speakers and patent pending dual-foam earpads. What difference could this make? The exterior of the ear cushions is made from a harder foam and the interior from a softer foam. This dual-foam design improves noise isolation, leading to better sound quality.

This design also, by the way, makes the on-ear headset more comfortable. On top of that, the ear cushions have a new leatherette pattern for better ventilation and reduced pressure, further improving comfort. The earcups themselves have been precisely angled to make them more ergonomic.

Jabra Evolve2 75 UC Headsets - Performance Mode vs Discreet Mode

Performance Mode and Discreet Mode

The microphone boom on Jabra Evolve2 75 is 33% shorter than the previous model without compromising on audio quality. And the microphone boom folds up when you don’t need it. If the boom’s up, you can flip it down to answer a call. If you’re on a call with the boom down, you can flip it up to mute your mic and flip back down to unmute.

But there’s more. Jabra Evolve2 75 offers two modes for using the headset for calls: Performance Mode and Discreet Mode. When the microphone is down, that’s Performance Mode. When it’s up, that’s Discreet Mode.

You can take calls in either mode. Performance Mode improves audio quality, making it meet the strict Microsoft Open Office requirements. Discreet Mode lets you use the headset, well, discreetly. For example, if you want to take a call in public, you might not want to have the boom down. You still get great sound.

Jabra Evolve2 75 MS Headset, Call Controls

Jabra Evolve2 75 MS Headsets for Microsoft Teams

Evolve2 75 comes in two basic flavors: UC and MS. The MS models are Microsoft Teams Certified. This means they have passed strict criteria for seamless integration with the extremely popular unified communications platform. They are immediately recognized by the service. They support call control features and have a purple Microsoft Teams busylight.

Importantly, they have a dedicated Microsoft Teams button in the middle of the right earphone. This button provides quick access to the service, so you can answer Teams calls, check notifications and more.

When used with the microphone boom down in Performance Mode, the headsets meet the strict Open Office standards of noise reduction. In essence, these standards specify that the headset can be used in noisier situations like open-plan offices without compromising on audio quality. This means excellent noise cancellation for the user and call clarity for the listener.

The UC models are compatible with basically every cloud phone service and softphone app out there. In fact, they’re also compatible with Teams. If you work in a hybrid environment, for example using Teams for video conferencing and RingCentral for phone calls, we recommend you get a UC model.

Jabra Link 380 USB-A and USB-C Bluetooth Adapters

Jabra Link 380 Bluetooth Adapter

The headset comes with a Jabra Link 380 Bluetooth Adapter. This compact USB dongle, available in either USB-A or USB-C variants, plugs into a computer, letting you use the headset as a USB peripheral. Because it acts as a USB peripheral that you can select for audio input/output, it’s compatible with basically every softphone application out there, including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, RingCentral, Google Voice, FaceTime and so on. (Note that you might not have full call control and other feature functionality on every system.)
